About the institution
The Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC) is a public institution of a scientific, cultural, and professional nature, founded in 1972 as an experimental technological university. UTC combines the strengths of a university—its eight research laboratories and doctoral school—with the advantages of a top-tier engineering school. It consistently ranks among the best public post-baccalaureate engineering institutions and plays a key role in the local innovation ecosystem.
UTC engages with society and the economic world by anticipating companies' research needs and supporting the professional integration of its 4,500 students. The university is built on two core pillars: a pedagogy fostering autonomy through an agile and innovative approach, and transdisciplinary technological research focused on innovation. It trains engineers, master’s students, and doctoral candidates capable of understanding the interactions between technology, humans, and society.
Internationally, UTC has significantly expanded its presence since the creation of its branch campus in Shanghai (UTSEUS) in 2005. This growth is reflected in a marked increase in international partnerships and the establishment of numerous double-degree programs worldwide. UTC's international influence continues to grow steadily, both in terms of global projects and innovative international academic programs. As part of its ambitious international strategy, the university is now a founding partner of the SUNRISE European University Alliance.
