The Université de Technologie de Compiègne is recruiting a contract researcher in the mechanical engineering department - Roberval laboratory, to work on batteries and energy storage systems.
Job description
Compiègne University of Technology is recruiting a contract researcher in the mechanical engineering department - Roberval laboratory, to work on batteries and energy storage systems, and in particular on battery thermal studies (calorimetry).
Thermal modelling is crucial for controlling operating safety (fire risk) and battery ageing.Estimating battery lifetime is currently an essential element in estimating real operating costs, and therefore in assessing the competitiveness of these storage systems. The Mechatronics, Energy, Electricity, Integration (M2EI) team within the Roberval laboratory has acquired an isothermal calorimeter, the aim of which is to:
improve the accuracy of battery thermal models, particularly in terms of determining internal losses
quantify and localize heat flows in real time, enabling us to fine-tune heat transfers
These two aspects will help optimize energy transfer within batteries. A better understanding of how heat is generated and transferred within batteries will help to better manage stored energy and limit battery ageing.
The team's choice is to acquire an isothermal calorimeter capable of accommodating different cell types (cylindrical, prismatic, pouch).
MISSION
The recruited person will be responsible for implementing the isothermal calorimeter. His/her role will be to compare the internal loss estimates of cells we have already worked on, with the loss measurements made by the calorimeter. He/she will be asked to draw up an inventory of the possibilities offered by the calorimeter's instrumentation (real-time measurements and controls).
ACTIVITIES
To contribute to the:
Implementation of the calorimeter
Calibration of the measuring instrument.
Use of measurements to characterize heat generation
Dissemination of the studies developed within the scientific community and/or to the public.
Documentation of the methods and experiments developed.
