Contract researcher in navigation and optical localization

  • On-site
    • Compiègne, Hauts-de-France, France
  • Computer sciences and engineering Heudiasyc

The University of Technology of Compiègne is recruiting a contract researcher for the Heudiasyc Laboratory (UMR CNRS 7253), Department of Computer Engineering (GI).

Job description

The University of Technology of Compiègne is recruiting a contract researcher for the Heudiasyc Laboratory (UMR CNRS 7253), Department of Computer Engineering (GI).

The project aims to equip mobile robots with an optical localization system enabling them to navigate autonomously in dynamic and unstructured environments. This requires the robot to be capable of localizing itself within such an environment and using this information in control algorithms to ensure robust navigation.

This project is funded by the Hauts-de-France Region.

Mission

The recruited person ensures research work. She will be in charge of the study and experimental validation for the autonomous navigation of mobile robots in dynamic and unstructured environments.

Main activities

• Development of a localization method for mobile robots operating in indoor and/or outdoor 3D environments.

• Design of a robust control architecture to ensure autonomous navigation using information from the optical localization system (development of estimation algorithms, use of observers, etc.).

• Development of a control architecture integrating data from the localization system.

• Experimental validation of the developed system.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONS

Contract type and expected recruitment dates

Fixed-term contract – planned duration: 13 months - to be filled as soon as possible

Salary

€ 2 800

Working hours

Work environment and context

The activity will take place within the Heudiasyc Laboratory, Department of Computer Engineering. Founded in 1981, Heudiasyc has been closely linked to CNRS since its creation and is affiliated with its INS2I institute (Information Sciences).

Heudiasyc’s research focuses on information and digital technologies (computer science, automation, robotics, artificial intelligence). Its aim is to develop methods for the representation, analysis, and control of systems subject to various criteria and constraints, whether scientific, technological, economic, or social.

Research is organized around three teams:

• CID: Knowledge, Uncertainty, Data

• SCOP: Reliability, Communication, Optimization

• SyRI: Robotic Systems in Interaction

The recruited person will join the SyRI team, working directly with the responsable.

Recruitment takes place within the project CPER RITMEA 2021-2027. The RITMEA project is co-funded by the European Union, the French State, and the Region Hauts-de-France.
