Job description
The University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC) is looking for a research engineer as part of the ARPEL project funded by the French National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology (INRIA).
The project aims to develop a web extension and an application enabling the contextualized collection of data from users, enriched with sociodemographic information. The main goal is to support social science research and regulation on online recommendations and practices, in a context of increased restrictions on access to this data via platform APIs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
• Developing and maintaining the data collection tools (application and browser extension)
• Drawing up a data management plan
• Analyzing data and producing interactive visualizations
• Contribute to the dissemination of results.

Fixed-term contract (18 months) - Position to be filled in the last quarter of 2025.
Gross Monthly Salary Starting
Depending on experience and funding
Work Hours
37 hours and 30 minutes/week - 1,607 hours/year
Work Environment and Context
The successful candidate will work within the COSTECH laboratory and interact with the multidisciplinary ARPEL project team, which brings together computer science and social science researchers from UTC, Médialab (SciencesPo Paris), and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris. They will be required to travel in Paris and abroad for meetings with the team and to present project results to institutional partners (French and European regulatory authorities) and at international conferences.
