Compiègne University of Technology is recruiting a research engineer for the ‘Integrated Transformations of Renewable Matter’ joint research unit.
Job description
We are looking for a design engineer to join the ‘Transformations Intégrées de la Matière Renouvelable’ joint research unit (TIMR UTC-ESCOM) as part of the CPER BiHauts Eco de France project.
This project focuses on plant and microbial bioresources and technological innovation for the bioeconomy in the Hauts-de-France region. It is funded by the CPER 2021-2027 programme.
Your role will be to take part in research into the characterisation of biobased molecules and products from various eco-processes for extracting or transforming biomass. To do this, you will be part of the research unit's technical and technological support unit, managing the chromatographic analytical equipment (gas chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography) and taking part in discussions on its development.

Your responsibilities
Manage the HPLC and GC equipment used to characterise biomass products
Implement best practice procedures and train users of this equipment
Set up experiments and develop new methodologies
Summarise, present and write up progress reports.

Experience
This position could be a first professional experience for a candidate with an engineering or master's degree in chemistry and/or process engineering.

Working environment and context
The work is carried out within the Industrial Process Engineering department - Integrated Transformations of Renewable Materials joint research unit (TIMR UTC-ESCOM). The purpose of the TIMR laboratory is to develop, validate and implement knowledge and know-how for renewable material transformation processes and reactions. The research activities are in line with scientific and technological issues, as well as current societal challenges linked to optimising the use of resources and renewing industrial processes, in line with a sustainable development approach. https://timr.utc.fr/
The person recruited will be required to work in collaboration with the team's teacher-researchers, PhD students and trainees. He/she will report to the project leaders and maintain regular dialogue with them.
The project will involve travel to meetings and events in the Hauts de France region.
